Lisa Skelton

Sat 25 Oct 08 - Sun 25 Jan 09

Drawing her inspiration from natural forms, Lisa uses traditional knitting methods combined with silk appliqué, felting and other techniques to create woollen scarves of lively colours, patterns and textures. The distinctive quality of Lisa’s work has attracted commissions from such prestigious stores as Barney’s of New York, Mitsukoshi of Tokyo, and The Conran Shop and Designers Guild of London.

Art & Design by Edward Bawden and Eric Ravilious with Mark Hearld

Sat 7 March- Mon 4 May

Eighty years after the first flowering of their creative friendship, the work of Bawden and Ravilious is as fresh and influential as ever.  Their ability to apply the same loving attention to menu cards, ceramics as well as watercolours has made them an inspiration to contemporary designers and artists alike. This exhibition brings together examples of the full range of this remarkable duo’s output, previously un-shown works and many with a special connection to Scarborough.  Mark Hearld, the York-based artist, offers a contemporary take on their work which demonstrates the enduring appeal of two quintessentially English artists.
