The Rotunda - William Smith Museum of Geology in Scarborough was long-listed for the UK’s largest single arts prize, The Art Fund Prize for museums and galleries, worth £100,000.

The ten long-listed museums and galleries were:

  • Rotunda – The William Smith Museum of Geology, Scarborough
  • The Braid: Arts Centre and Mid-Antrim Museum, Ballymena, Co Antrim
  • The Centre of New Enlightenment at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow
  • Outside the Boxat the Museum of Reading
  • Scotland: A Changing Nation at National Museums Scotland, Edinburgh
  • National Trust Museum of Childhood, Derbyshire
  • Orleans House Gallery, Twickenham
  • Ruthin Craft Centre: The Centre for the Applied Arts, Denbighshire
  • The Sackler Centre for arts education at the V&A, London
  • Wedgwood Museum, Stoke-on-Trent

Dinosaur Coast Events

Dinosaur Coast Events 2009 This year the Dinosaur Coast is back with a bang: events will be running during most school holidays starting in May with a series of launch days. Family Fun Days, Fossil Hunts and Evening Strolls will all use the geology collections from Scarborough Museums Trust and Whitby Museum to explore the 200 million year history of the area.
